Department Name PASTORAL CARE Job Description POSITION SUMMARYExempt (Salaried - Not eligible for overtime) To manage, coordinate and provide pastoral care services to inpatients, outpatients, staff, physicians, families, visitors, etc.
for assigned facility.
To visit and counsel patients as requested or needed.
To provide various religious services and promote religious ideals to customers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSWork experience may NOT substitute for minimum education requirement.
Master's degree in Divinity or related field and seven (7) years of related experience.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLSPrepares reports (oral/written) on ministry for Senior Director, Pastoral Care and others as required.
Actively serves on Corporate Pastoral Care Committee, representing facility in Corporate Pastoral Care needs.
Meets quarterly or monthly with Senior Director, Pastoral Care.
Follows up with patients and/or families having special needs.
Leads grief recovery groups as needed.
Plans and conducts memorial services Offers ministry to patients, family members, employees, physicians and volunteers that Provides group leadership for patients and/or families in both support and teaching groups.
Provides pastoral support, counseling and training to include group leadership for hospital staff.
Serves as resource person and mentor for Pastoral Care residents and volunteers.
Serves as resource person to area churches and pastors.
Speaks to civic and community groups regarding various programs and lifestyles which affect people's psycho/social spiritual being.
Maintains collegial relationships with community churches, association groups and clergy.
Coordinates any special religious rites for patients with local churches as requested.
Determines type of involvement appropriate for meeting patient's spiritual and/or emotional needs.
Works with patient care provider team members in developing psycho, social and spiritual patient care plans.
Develops, implements and monitors annual budgets ensuring effective department operations.
Serves on various hospital committees as well as attending multi-disciplinary team meetings as assigned by hospital leadership.
Develops and maintains a Volunteer Chaplain program to assist with 24 hour pastoral care coverage.
Hires, schedules, counsels, disciplines and evaluates assigned staff.
Offers ministry to patients, family members, employees, physicians and volunteers that demonstrates a daily application of Baptist Health System Mission.
