Department Name RESPIRATORY CARE Job Description POSITION SUMMARYNonexempt (Hourly - Eligible for overtime) To provide bedside respiratory care to assigned patients.
To provide both inpatient and outpatient care as dictated by the physician's orders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSWork experience may NOT substitute for minimum education requirement.
Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLSInitiates and monitors invasive and noninvasive positive pressure mechanical ventilation and the use of weaning protocols in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives to include critical value and result reporting, patient education and proper documentation procedures.
Provides therapeutic modalities to treat and prevent respiratory related pulmonary conditions.
Performs arterial punctures using radial, brachial and femoral sites.
Draws off arterial lines to obtain samples for blood gas analysis in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures.
Follows established policies and procedures when administering therapeutic modalities as prescribed by the physician.
